Doors open at 4 p.m. for snacks, wine and conversation; and at 5:30 p.m. we will show the Bollywood Film “Lage Raho Munnabhai” with cake and icecream in the intermission at about 7 p.m. Lighthearted gangster Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) and his partner in crime, Circuit (Arshad Warsi), are back in action, and this time, their adventures lead Munna straight down lover's lane. He's fallen for Jhanvi (Vidya Balan), a radio DJ. To capture her attention, Munna vows to win her station's contest, which tests the participants' knowledge about Mahatma Gandhi. Wednesday, October 14 at 3-3:30 p.m. on KFCF 88.1 On our “Stir it Up” monthly radio show Angela Price will be talking with her guest, Dr.Pakisa K.Tshimika, about problems in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Tshimika is doctor of public health currently working as an associate executive for Mennonite World Conference. He is the executive director and founder of Mama Makeka House of Hope, a ministry to the DRC., a registered charitable organization founded in memory of his mother, to establish endowment funds for specific projects like hospitals and schools. Video Series, the Center will show “The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo”. Winner of the Sundance Special Jury Prize in Documentary and the inspiration for a 2008 U.N. Resolution classifying rape as a weapon of war, this extraordinary film, shot in the war zones of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), shatters the silence that surrounds the use of sexual violence as a weapon of conflict. Many tens of thousands of women and girls have been systematically kidnapped, raped, mutilated and tortured by soldiers from both foreign militias and the Congolese army. A survivor of gang rape herself, Emmy Award®-winning filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson travels through the DRC to understand what is happening and why. Discussant will be Dr. Pakisa K.Tshimika.
