Rain coming to Northern California week of 10-12
S.F. Chronicle (10-08) SAN FRANCISCO

Clear skies and beautiful weather are in store for the Bay Area this weekend, right in time for Fleet Week. This means millions of people can bask in the sunshine while enjoying not just Fleet Week, but also the Presidents Cup golf tournament, the 49ers game at Candlestick Park on Sunday and the Italian Heritage Day parade Sunday in North Beach.

Then, duck and cover. That's because come Monday afternoon, light rain will start falling, the opening salvo to a storm that will sweep through next week.

Put another way, the gorgeous conditions "will usher in a drastic weather change," with high wind and heavy rain, (National Weather Service forecaster Steve) Anderson said.

Rainfall totals for the storm are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches in metropolitan areas to 2 to 4 inches in the North Bay to as much as 6 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Anderson said.

1. Even those of us to the south are expected to get a little
on Tuesday and Wednesday... Rain that is;-)

Unfortunately with all the fires we've had there will be the distinct possibility of mudslides:-(

2. Sounds silly to make a big deal out of this, but it really is a big deal

3. Nothing silly about it
I know for much of the country even a decent amount of rainfall is no big deal but here in So. Cal. where we don't see much rain in any given year even a light rain can be an especially a big deal after all the fires. Many peoples lives can be devastated, displaced and even lost with a light rain.

They say predictions are still a bit early to know for sure but with a potential mild to moderate El Nino building they're saying (that at least for now) we may be in for a slightly wetter than normal season which easily translates into mudslides.

Here's to keeping yer feet dry:toast:
