California may be our last hope. |
|
With the whole country flying back into the arms of the GOP and our venerable president insisting on playing the game with their rules I'm sure the country will continue it's manic drive down towards the depths of middle class hell.
The only difference is California. With it's new broadly Democratic government it has an opportunity to swim against the flow and approach problems from a different angle than the rest of the country.
If it can rise up from the depths of incompetence and begin to pull itself together it would prove that Republican policy is a major reason we are in this mess. If nothing changes by the end of the term, it would demonstrate that Democratic policies are no better that Republican's.
I hope our new governor can pull out all the Democratic policy stops, get things rolling again and start to lead the country out of this mess.

1. Well I read today that Jerry said the deficit is worse than he thought |
|
and so his first order of biz will be cutting education.
:sigh:
Why the hell can't he talk about raising taxes on the wealthy? Seems like Austerity is the new normal.

2. To be followed by raising taxes |
|
on the middle class. Although relieved it was not Meg, I was not joyous of his win. He announced he will keep many of Arnie's appointees plus he came out against Prop. 19. He was literally born in and of the Democratic PARTY.

7. This is what will save us, property taxes on |
|
luxury properties and out of staters, like John McCain, who own California properties and all those ME oil sheiks who own most of Beverly HIlls.

6. If California is our last hope, America is doomed. |
|
I hope Jerry can break the stranglehold special interests have on this state, but I won't hold my breath.

8. With a Democratic legislature, he should be able |
|
to get a lot done. I hope they can break the 2/3rds rule to pass anything. We are held hostage by the Republican minority because of it just like the feds are.

10. Don't count on it. . . |
|
as long as Proposition 13 rules California, there is no hope here either.
