I went to this several years ago and had a great time. If you're looking for an escape from Christmas, get thee to the New Asia Restaurant in San Francisco tonight or over the weekend.

Growing up in Long Island, known - whether fairly or not - for its Jewish suburban lifestyle, Lisa Geduldig was raised as a secular Jew but kept to all the traditions - even racing through and skipping portions of the Maxwell House coffee Passover Haggadah.
"As a family, we never belonged to a synagogue," Geduldig says, "and only went to one for a bar or bas mitzvah. And we were always late, so we didn't end up spending much time in them. We didn't grow up kosher: We had shrimp and lobster sauce every Sunday night at Sun Ming Chinese restaurant on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington, Long Island."
So it's no wonder that comedian Geduldig channeled those experiences into "Kung Pao Kosher Comedy," now a yearly Christmas alternative in San Francisco, where patrons can enjoy Jewish jokesters while eating a Chinese dinner. Past participants at the event include Judy Gold, David Brenner, Shelley Berman and Henny Youngman. This year's headliners include Wendy Liebman, Nathan Habib and Joe Nguyen (yes, his mother is Jewish) with Geduldig as the emcee.
Geduldig, 48, got the idea for "Kung Pao Kosher Comedy" when she found herself booked at a Chinese restaurant in Massachusetts, and called her friend about the experience.
