The San Luis Obispo Syringe Exchange Program (SLOSEP) is a community based, volunteer driven program, started in 2008 after syringe exchange was legalized by CA legislation and authorized by SLO County declaration.
Our mission's threefold -
Reduce blood borne infections among injection drug users,
Maintain a safe, legal syringe exchange under State and County guidelines,
Facilitate access to local health and support services for our clients.
We support a harm reduction approach with clients to limit the negative impacts of injection drug use along a continuum – from “safer” shooting practices, to decreased injection drug use, to abstinence – as appropriate for each client.
Hi all,
I'd like to ask you for some help in meeting our supply needs. We've doubled our syringe exchanges over the past year, recovering ~ 20,000 used syringes for safe disposal and distributing almost 30,000 sterile syringes to help stem HIV, Hepatitis C and other blood borne infections.
We need to buy more syringes this year to meet the demand, accomplish our goals and maintain our commitment to our clients. We're running short.
Your donation goes 100% directly to supplies for the exchange. Donations are tax deductible.
Our fiscal agent is the AIDS Support Network (ASN). Please note that your donation is for SLOSEP.

Thank you DU for supporting a local, grass roots public health initiative.
