4. San Onofre and El Diablo
El Diablo was built ON a fault line in sand. The fallout would render millions of acres of farmland unusable which would trigger a worldwide food shortage. They're currently sniffing around the San Joaquin Valley to put in another one. As tragic as the situation in Japan is, one positive thing MAY come out of it and that is a reality check for the "drill baby drill" pro-nuke crowd. When they fuck up, they REALLY fuck up.

5. Neither station is built "on sand." Sandstone in the case of SO, and sandstone or
shale in the case of DC, but that's not the same thing. And neither plant is directly on a known fault, although some are nearby.

There are plenty of concerns regarding seismic risks and nuclear power in CA; the actual facts are scary enough...

6. After further research,
I find that you are correct. I was repeating what had been told to me several years ago. I stand corrected. However, it appears to be relatively near two major fault lines and that is certainly of concern. Information says it can withstand a 7.5 which, historically speaking, is not out of the question for California.

8. Humboldt Bay was totally built ON a fault line on mud
right in a major tsunami area. It's been decommissioned, but I think they still have fuel there.
