Santa Barbarians, any way around SB without using the 101 during PM rush hour?
I will be travelling south through SB during a Monday afternoon in a few weeks and I dread having to do it. It never fails that in the afternoon, even on Sundays, when I try to drive through SB the 101 makes the 405 look like the 126. What about Cathedral Oaks/192?

mountains, but I don't know the name/number. It's no faster, just less aggravating.

ETA: I checked the map. It's 192.

2. Yup, that was the path I spotted on the map.
As long as I make forward progress I can stand some traffic lights. Sitting on the 101 in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour seemingly for no reason is what I dread.

3. You can go over from Santa Maria (N. end) through Cuyama and down on 33 to Ojai.
Long way around.

4. Yes, the 166 to the 33 to the 126.
I've not taken the 166 yet but I know the 33. The 166 will be visually stunning, no doubt. An option but not sure I will be up for it after driving all day. I'll keep it in mind though, as I am curious what the 166 is like.

5. It is stunning, in parts, and not much traffic usually, but a long drive. nt
