I don't live in Sacramento (I live in EDH) but what happens in the city has an affect on the surrounding communities as well.

1. I live close to Sacramento
and I do not think much of him. I do not know much about the intricacies of Sacramento politics but he seems to be mediocre at best. What is really sad is that he replaced a person who I thought was even less qualified. That does not say much for the capital of California. It has all the charm of an expanded cow town, and he is not up to the task of improving its image or the quality of life for its citizens.

2. My kid played basketball against him in high school
As a young ballplayer he was almost magical to watch.

As a mayor, he pretty much sucks.

From my somewhat distant vantage point, he's in over his head.

3. Davisite, here. Not much good has happened to Sac in the past few years.
Businesses are still going under. A lot of pain, violence, hard life going on.

Little bits of light. It's always been kind of a hardass town -- the oldtimers are bigoted as hell. It's considered to be one of the most diverse cities in the US though -- more mixed-race couples than anywhere else in the world.

Schwarzenegger stuck a knife in its back with his furlough program. Every single gift shop in the midtown area closed. A lot of restaurants gone. Pain. And he saved about a thousand bucks, the asshole. Bad karma coming to that jerk.

Kevin Johnson's in over his head. I didn't mind Fargo.

Wish us luck. My business is unrelated to the local economy, thank god. Unemployment is still through the roof.

Fucking Republicans.

4. not good, just went to Old Sac & noticed so MANY closed shops along
the way, downtown is depressing, lots of closed empty spaces. We need a WPA, on every level.

5. I think he sucks at this job.
If he's even TRYING to do anything besides the arena deal (which ain't gonna happen) I don't see any evidence.

I'm just barely outside the city limit but I work in midtown.
