For any Sacramento area DUers who may be interested.
Christine Craft, who has a talk show on the local AAR affiliate (talkcity 1240 AM), has been putting together a Jan 20 march/parade from Cesar Chavez park in downtown Sacramento (10th and I to J Streets) to the State Capitol (at 10th and L). The event should begin at 10 am at the park and from what I gather a coronation ceremony will be conducted on the Capitol grounds.
It's supposed to be a satirical take off of the events transpiring in Washington that day. Signs will be provided (to ensure they are in keeping with the permit requirements) although attendees are encouraged to bring kazoos. (I'm not sure if a marching band is still on for the festivities.) Security also will be provided and permits and insurance are in place for the event, which is scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm. Some people likely will be in costume (so no doubt "billionaires for Bush" and suchlike would be welcome), including a couple to appear as GW and his devoted Condi. Craft apparently was having problems finding someone willing to appear as Condi but when last I heard a guy said he would do it and his transformation to Dr. Rice would be assisted by his "stylist." So that could be interesting. ;)
Anyway, Craft's talk show is on weekdays from 4pm - 6pm and more info should be available on Tuesday's and Wednesday's show, for those in the area who can pick up AM 1240. (No show on Monday this week due to the holiday I think I heard.)
