This difference in tone to form Emails I received from Dianne Feinstein gives me the impression she might actually be persuaded in this instance (compared to no-response regarding Condaleeza, a very disappointing response regarding Ohio, disappointing response regarding particular justices in the past four years, etc.). Who knows? I may be wrong, but it wouldn't hurt:
Dear < >:
Thank you for contacting me regarding President Bush's
nomination of Alberto Gonzales to be Attorney General of the
United States. I have been closely reviewing his nomination.
Judge Gonzales has come before the Senate Judiciary
Committee for his confirmation hearing and given testimony.
However, he still has written questions to answer and submit to the
Committee. As a general rule, I wait until after I review a
nominee's entire record before deciding how to vote on a nominee.
I will pay close attention to the issues you raised when making my
decision.
Again, thank you for writing. I hope you will continue to
keep in touch. If you have any further comments, please contact
my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
