Scam alert re: Shelly! Don't support Ross Johnson-he's a REP!
There is an e-mail circulating that claims to have advice from informed voting rights activists, urging DEMS to call Schwarzenegger and ask him to appoint Ross Johnson as Secretary of State instead of another candidate who is supposedly a right-winger. The email claimsm Johnson coauthored some good voting reform legislation.

JOhnson is a Republican!

I suspect this group is a GOP-front to scam Democrats.
Please call your legislators ASAP and urge them to oppose ANY Republican nominee. Also call Schwarzenegger with the same message, and oppose any Republican.

Finally, please forward this warning far and wide so that nobody else will get scammed and support the next Kenneth Blackwell for CA.

1. In defense of Ross Johnson,
having spent considerable time in Sacramento myself..he took Sheila Keuhl under his wing when she got to Sacramento and completely taught her her way around including how to get her issues to the floor..I don't know if I support him in this position but they could offer far worse than him..he's an old school Republican and not a bad guy.

2. more bad news
The govinator is looking hard at LA Co registrar Conny McCormack, who was Shelley's most vocal critic. She fought him tooth and nail over decertifying the Diebold and Sequoia systems, and thinks paper trails for audits are a waste of money.

3. It's not good enough to settle for "not so awful."

The only way to be sure we don't get stabbed in the back is to insist on a DEM who has a proven record supporting proper voting reforms and no pressing financial need that might leave them vulnerable to bribery.

4. I'd be WAY more concerned with Connie McCormack than with Johnson
This is the same Connie MoCormack who had 4 voting machines...all computerized for the entire east La Brea district during the recall...we had lines around the block at lunch and over half the people left
