The deluge of rain that hit the Coachella Valley in early January damaged public roads and facilities. But privately owned facilities suffered too - and now some are turning to local government for help with mud-covered roads and ravaged golf greens.
The Rancho Mirage City Council on Thursday started discussing whether to give financial assistance to gated communities and hotels whose golf courses were damaged and roads covered with silt and debris due to last month's rains.
Councilman Dana Hobart addressed the issue of fairness to individual residents of Rancho Mirage.
"I'm wondering how we deal with giving money to larger property owners, and not to individual owners who likewise suffered (from the rains)," Hobart told the council meeting.http://www.thedesertsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050204/NEWS01/502040323/1006Good to see that local tax dollars might be fixing golf courses in gated communities... :eyes:
