Where was Jerry?
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/02/16/BAGU1BB7HR1.DTL

You have a state senator from Orange County coming out to support gay marriage but Jerry Brown can't make the trip across the bay?

Having a gay old time: We know it's caused a ruckus nationally, but it's also interesting how gay marriage is playing out with Democrats on the state level.

Case in point: The very public appearance of Democratic state Sen. Joe Dunn of Garden Grove (Orange County) at the same-sex marriage fest at San Francisco City Hall last weekend. Dunn -- a 2006 contender for attorney general -- is backing the gay marriage bill proposed by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco.

Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown -- who is also running for attorney general - - was not at the fest and has not taken a position on the gay marriage issue.

2. was it mandatory for Candidates to attend?
I'm sure JB will have a reasonable position on SS marriage. There's not much he does that isn't well thought out. he has my support, he was a great governor. He has done a lot of good for the city of oaks, too. And, he is clean.

3. At least, Brown supports gay rights. Joe is very wishy-washy and can't

be trusted. You think his position is one thing because he's really cagey and then you speak to the Greens who have been keeping track of his past statements and you find out that Dunn's closer to Arnold on most issues. Jerry's just honest. You ask Jerry and he'll tell you his position.

4. Brown hasn't come out in favor of gay marriage
and Dunn has

obviously the reporters have asked Brown

I much rather trust someone who has come out in support rather than someone who is seeing which way the wind's blowing before taking a position
