Sen. Romero,
I was gravely disappointed to see you taking the lead in calling for Kevin Shelley's resignation after the crucial work he did exposing electronic voting machines susceptibility to rigging, and the troubling behavior by Diebold employees that seemed to indicate they would be willing and capable of doing so.
In light of your role in pushing Shelley out, you have an even greater obligation to work to protect our election system in the face of a sustained onslaught from the far right and the business interests they represent. You should know better than I that despite his California wrapper, Arnold Schwarzenegger is advised and supported by the same interests as the Bush administration, which has done so much to suppress and harass democratic voters in places like Ohio and Florida.
You are probably already aware of this issue, but if not,
http://shadowbox.i8.com/, has an extensive list of links to the relevant documentation of GOP election fraud, including Congressman John Conyers House Judiciary Committee Democrats report.
There is no more issue in California today than preserving our right to have our votes counted fairly.
If you are going to call yourself a democrat, start acting like one, or real democrats will support someone to run against you.
