A question about how Dems are voting this Senate race.
It seems interesting. Miles did not get a huge percentage during the caucus. But he got the majority in the State assembly. Now the polls have Salazar way ahead for the primary vote. While, I am supporting Salazar, this seems odd. Though, I have never been involved at this level.

1. Miles got the majority at the State Convention...
...because a lot of Salazar's supporters thought he had it in the bag and decided not to make the trip to Pueblo. If they had, we wouldn't be having these discussions today...

2. I'll say it again...
If Salazar supporters decide "not to make the trip" to the polls on Tuesday, he'll lose again. I actually voted for Salazar at the state convention, but after hearing Mike speak, I've been volunteering for him ever since. I just heard him again yesterday, and he is very powerful and moving. He has a great view of the world, being an army ranger/West Point graduate, and later a diplomat to Russia/Poland. For about the past 8 years, he's been an education in the Fountain School District, probably one of the poorer ones in the state.

I like them both, but Salazar's support for the war (and failure even today to speak out against it), his initial support for vouchers, his stance on gay marriage, and support of Lieberman in the primary make me choose Mike. He's not the typical politician. In fact, yesterday he marched with about 150 of us in the Douglas County parade (amongst conservative residents) with a bullhorn, telling everyone who he is and what he supports. I didn't see Salazar, Coors, or Schaffer out there. Mike doesn't know the "secret handshake" of Washington, D.C., and doesn't want to. That's why I'll be voting for Mike Miles on Tuesday.

3. it's not the first time that has happened in CO
it's the third time - it's not that unusual for an outside candidate to win a majority in the caucuses - especially one with a dedicated and focused group of supporters. Activists show up at the caucuses -

Sometimes even primaries can be won in an upset the same way - the dedicated activists show up. That seems to be Mile's strategy.

4. Read Mike's letter.

O.K. – we’ve been here before; just before the State Assembly, when none of the pundits gave us a chance of even getting on the ballot, we did the impossible. We can do it again.

Remember how we got to this point. Remember how we decided to challenge the status quo and speak out on the issues that matter most to Coloradoans. Remember how, when many of our elected officials acquiesced to a failed foreign policy, the Patriot Act, vouchers, and inaction on health care, we decided it was time to fight not only the fights that could be won, but the fights that needed fighting.

Remember how we, together, defeated cynicism and frustration over politics as usual, rallying ordinary Coloradoans and helping them find new hope. You have made all the difference. And thus has every significant change in the course of human events been left to those willing to endure great costs for others, who may not even know of or appreciate what has been done on their behalf.

I know that I have seen only a small fraction of the sacrifices you have made on behalf of this campaign. Some of you have put your lives on hold to work for this campaign or are “dating the campaign”; others have written numerous letters, made countless phone calls, or knocked on hundreds of doors in order to get the message out. Some have had their literature confiscated by security at the showing of Fahrenheit 911, and recently, a few members of Team Blue have had to endure arrest or harassment by law enforcement while promoting our campaign. If people only knew your individual stories, they would proclaim you all heroes.

Here’s to you for having the courage to arrive at this place. Keep faith as we make the final charge. On the field before us Democracy is under siege and we face a multitude that is emboldened by their allies, doubt and fear. But we shall give stroke twofold for stroke, and when the day is done, let it be said that no one will ever match your heart and honor.

Be the change.

Mike Miles

8. That Was Then - This is Now
The Convention was filled with party activists - their support for Miles does not appear to be translating in to popular support.

I expect Ken Salazar to win this.

10. Salazar is going to win big.
I don't trust the polls either when the spread is small, but this one is big. Then there is the fact that the primary is a lot different than the convention. A lot of the Dems that are voting today just don't have the time on their hands to be a delegate. It is very true that Miles recruited the delegates and Salazar's didn't even make the trip. But when you put in the much larger numbers of Dems who do have the time to go to their poll, Miles is toast.

You know, I like a lot of the issues that Miles is for, but he was a damn fool to think he could beat Campbell and an even bigger one to take on one of the most popular politicians in Colorado. He has no political experience! He'd be totally ineffective in Washington. Why didn't he try for the state legislature first?

7. Sorry. I don't trust the polls.
Especially when it deals with elitist Salazar.

Remember, it was EXPECTED that Salazar would win top billing for Senate primary. It was MILES that won the top billing because he had massive number of people voting for him in the state convention.

So I will not take into account for that. Trust me on this.
