Coors: Running for the Senate while running from a family history
From The Carpetbaggers Report:

"In the Rocky Mountain News' article yesterday (August 8, 2004) about Peter Coors' plans to run in Colorado for the U.S. Senate, there was one sentence at the very end that hinted at a broader story.

said that Coors faces intense scrutiny -- not just of himself, but of his company.

If all you know of the Coors company is that it brews cheap beer, Duffy's comment may not make a lot of sense. The fact is, however, that Coors may best known as for alcohol, but political junkies know that when it comes to conservative causes, this isn't just any brewing dynasty; it's a right-wing powerhouse"

1. Ollie North Hearings
Frank Zappa once wrote about how the elder Coors had enough security clearance and friends to get into various security hearings. He also appeared at the Ollie North hearings, where he probably cried for days and days thinking about him (Ollie) in his underwear, running up the street with a gun. I also believe they were one of the main funders behind the Colorado anti-gay rights initiative passed in 1992. It was struck down in 1996.

2. Yes, - Joe Coors and Ronald Reagan were very close
I did a "Peter Coors" Heritage Foundation Google search and am finding lots of interesting hits. Joe Coors got the Foundation off the ground with his large contribution back in the 1970s. So there's lots to read about.

5. Thanks For This Info
I forwarded this to Joseph Michelli, too. He may be a Republican talk show host, but he seems to be open-minded, to a degree.
