anybody that's familiar w/ Colorado politics . . .
could you give me a lending hand here? I've got some recently arrived family members now living in Englewood who are fairly naive when it comes to Colorado politics. I've heard them mention that they are thinking of voting for Coors for Senator. Since I am from the East Coast, I've heard of the rightwing Coors family but have no specifics on the guy running for Senator.

Any help from you folks who live in Colorado? Particularly anything that's negatively impacted the environment re Coors running for U.S. Senator?? Any resources? A url/hyperlink?

What about the U.S. Representative in the congressional district covering Englewood? Is s/he up for re-election? Anything on that too? Any resources? A url/hyperlink?

1. Coors is a Republican.
I think his family helped finance a lot of the neocons. You should go to Ken Salazar's website. He is the Democratic opponent to Coors. Salazar's site is www.salazarforcolorado.com I don't have any specifics on Coors. Though I don't want him as my senator that is for damned sure.

anybody from the Coors family would never get my vote; however, I'm not the one voting for the guy running for Colorado's U.S. Senate slot. There's 5 Colorado votes in the mix here. And there's geniune interest in environmental issues -- I've heard my Colorado newly arrived family members say that the Coors guy running for senate is okay on the environment. I merely wanted some ammunition to counter it in light of the balance in the U.S. Senate. Every Democrat in the U.S. Senate is so damn necessary!!

3. The Coors family helped start The Heritage Foundation.
It is a think tank that comes up with papers and speakers that support what ever "conservative" theories the Republican Party wants to pass off to the American voter as "good for America". They are quite good at what they do.

Coors recently was reported in the Denver Post as getting ready to send several thousand jobs out of state, I believe to Virginia.

Coors also is on record as saying that out of control health costs are caused by frivolous lawsuits and irresponsible jury awarded penalties. We know this is not true. These are only about 1% of health care costs. A huge and growing cost is for treating uninsured and under insured people for complications of problems that could have been prevented by early care in a doctor's office. Instead, many are holding off getting treatment until they are admitted to the hospitals through the emergency rooms. This was in several Colorado papers over the last couple of days.

Also our food bank are stressed by the unusual demand for groceries. Senior, young people, and even families who used to donate money and items to the food banks are now in need of basic food items. George has helped create this situation, Coors will vote the party line to support George's policies, since he has already spouted Republican talking points regarding health care. I also understand Coors company will rescind insurance coverage for gay partners of those employed by Coors.

The Republican Party picked Coors over Schaeffer. There was a reason for this. Although, I don't support Schaeffer, I think he may vote his conscience on some issues, not necessarily only the Republican Party conscience.

So, if your family wants a Colorado vote for all George, all the time, they should vote for Pete. He's a done deal.

4. thank you, MissMarple for your . . .
response and insightfulness. I've been researching Peter H. Coors, and have found several helpful urls:

to post but a few. My opinion of Peter H. Coors is that of an extremely narrow-minded individual who's politics is neither humanitarian or moral. This so-called "less government" mantra is for the few who hold great wealth and power; and in order to retain such must dupe the lesser which is what Coors and other extremists are attempting to do. Coors is a carbon copy of GWBush et al.
