Beauprez tops poll of 7th District

Voters in the 7th Congressional District favor incumbent Republican Bob Beauprez over Democratic challenger Dave Thomas by 10 percentage points, a new Denver Post poll indicates.
Two areas of the poll struck Brad Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., which conducted the poll of 400 voters Oct. 4-7.

One is that Thomas' unfavorable rating is higher than his favorable rating, Coker said Monday. The second is Beauprez's low name recognition.

"It's odd for a challenger's negative to be higher than his positive," Coker said. "Usually, the rule of thumb is you want your favorable rating twice as high as your unfavorable."

I think it is unfortunate for Dave Thomas that he is linked with the Columbine shootings. There are just no positives there, so anyone linked is going to have a negative attachment they have to overcome just to get back to start.

I have never paid much attention to the whole Columbine debacle, so I don't know who made bad decisions, who covered up what, or any of that.

6. I heard Thomas tore Beauprez a new one at the debate.

on Tuesday. He yelled at Beauprez for the attacks on his character. Beauprez was really scared after that. This was what I heard. From what I know, Beauprez looked very scared after Thomas went after him.
