Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 09:40 PM by fudge stripe cookays
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2587076&mesg_id=2587076&page=

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local CO businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

1. I will keep my eyes peeled in the future
but for now, don't buy cars from John Elway

The Curves gym is a big repuke contributor.

of course we all know about Wal-mart and Sam's Club

I will post more as I find them

2. Thanks Adams.
The John Elway one is good. Do you have an official name of a business, which cities he's in and possibly addresses? Gimme lots of local. I think we've got the national biggies covered.

3. Tattered Cover Book Store is a good merchant
The owner came out early to defy turning over records of her customers' purchases.

4. I have heard WONDERFUL...
things about the Tattered Cover.

I had a good friend who used to live in Denver, and she raved about the place. Thanks for the reminder!

9. Cool, Lost.
You might also want to PM Sapphocrat with the information. She has a bunch of server space and a DB that we're going to use.

Thanks!

7. My favorite little greek diner might be off limits to me.
Zorba's Greek Restaurant
12th and Elizabeth
Congress Park, Denver.

Before the election, they had their TVs on CNN. That I can forgive, because few people know any better. Many times, at 1pm, it would be on soap operas. Wednesday, it was on FuxNews! Now, everybody knows what FNC is all about, so I couldn't give any benefit of the doubt. Next time I walk in, if it's on, I walk right out, and am taking my ass to Pete's Kitchen (a dump, but still good food, and I at least think they're liberal)

10. Bummer!
I LOVE Greek. You might want to do a little sleuthing. If you go in again and it's on, ask to see the manager and ASK them why they're watching Fox News.

If he says it's fair and balanced, come right out and ask him who he voted for. That will clear up any confusion. THEN you can walk out knowing for sure, and not deprive yourself of any yummy dolmas or tzatziki if you don't have to. You know what I'm sayin?
