Is Bush giving Owens a cabinet position?
I keep hearing that Bush is giving Owens a cabinet position in his second term. It would be the only way Owens could advance because he is damaged goods. But, I also hear that he is pondering who he will pick to replace Salazar as AG.

1. haven't heard that....
*shudders* Wonder if he'd take the wife or the mistress to DC with him... or both? Get some Biblical action going on.

(pours out a measure of brain bleach at that thought...)

AG: John Evans from Dist. 30 is an attorney (which I believe is a requirement) and is the Asst. Majority leader of the Senate. Ed Jones out of El Paso County is also a possibility.

Fortunately, Donuts Davidson pretty much slit her political throat by being absent during the election. (I feel bad for her brother, but I'm glad she wasn't here to play Katherine Harris any more than she already had.)

Possibly one of the members of the Board of Land Commissioners - there are two who are lawyers. That's a gov't position that's kind of quiet and is made by appointment.

2. Let me guess.
These AG people are all Republicans. We need to get a good candidate to take them out in 2006 if that is the case.

3. Of course they're all Rethugs. He's the Gov. He gets to pick when it's an
interim appointment. They have to be approved, but if he can get it rammed through approval between now and January, while he still has some control over the general assembly....

It's an interim appointment until the election can be held. It may be a 2005 election, but I doubt it. Odd year elections pretty much do nothing.

Whomever is appointed will conform with Twinkles' politics.

5. Random conversation at Boulder Dem HQ...
libelous conversation, as it happens, with a GOP convert. (great lady, as it happens.)

Let's just say that there are some serious questions about him within GOP internal politics and that "gleam" in his eye may have more than a few causes.

7. We Have Enough on Ed Jones to Keep Him Out of the AG Office
The Colorado Springs Independent has loads of info about how Ed Jones was in a bar where cocaine was being dealt over the bar, and other dirt.

Jones ain't goin' nowhere - the only reason he's in office is that El Paso County will elect almost anyone with an (R) after their name...
