Who all was at the Convention in Pueblo today?
What do you all think of the outcome?

I was a delegate for Miles and Kucinich, and this is the first time that I've felt really good this whole primary season.

I'm really glad that the people of Colorado will be presented with a real choice between two good, strong candidates for Senate in the upcoming primary.

1. I was there.
I was a delegate for Salazar and Kerry. BTW, congratulations to the Miles team today. While I cast my vote for Salazar, I think they are both great candidates and Miles definitely has a good sense of humor which I have seen today and at my county assembly.

BTW, Ann Richards did really well today. It is just hard to imagine that someone as smart and funny as she is was beat by a stupid rat bastard.

2. I had stepped out to get something to eat

and came back when Ann Richards was probably about halfway through.x(

From what I saw of her she was great, I just wish I would have caught the whole thing, I heard the beginning part was great.

Dammit, why do I always have to screw up my timing? I also managed to miss the chartered bus back to Boulder, and thought I was going to be stranded in Pueblo. Fortunately, I managed to find someone to bum a ride from.

Thanks for the congratulations. I think that whoever wins, it will be really healthy for us to have a truly competetive primary. I think either one would be a very strong candidate. :)

3. Funny, I am from Jeffco.
But I rode down with Boulder people at an invitation from someone in the county who is also on this forum. Too bad our paths never crossed, not that I would have known who you were.

4. I put my DU bumper sticker
on the back of my backpack, but I only ran into one DUer who recognized it. But she doesn't hang out here much and neither of us recognized each other's user names.

I wish the people here had followed through on making some kind of arrangement to get together at a specific time and location. Although that probably wouldn't have worked since they didn't really schedule any breaks.

5. I think I may know the Du'er too.
There was a girl who invited me and she had a DU bumper sticker on her bag. At the convention, I bought a couple of buttons.

Buck Fush and America needs another JFK, with Kennedy and Kerry on it.

8. Here is what she said.
Like father, like son
Richards goes on attack against younger Bush
By DENNIS DARROW
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN

Sixteen years after she ripped his father, activist Ann Richards on Saturday tore into the younger President Bush. Then she took on the war in Iraq, the military and the Healthy Forests Initiative.

Congrats to the Miles team! While I voted for Salazar it was heart warming to see such dedication and passion form the Miles team. The primary season is going to be interesting to say the least.

Funny story.
While I was waiting around to check in as a alternate I went out for smokes and water. On the way back in I jumped on the 'tram' from the parking lot to the center. I was waiting for it to leave and a woman and her children jumped on, all wearing Miles gear. I took noticed and told her how much I like Mike and would love to see him run again in 4 years against Allard (not knowing of the great surprise coming). She said thank you and asked if I didn't think Miles would make the primary. I agreed he would make the primary but wasn't sure of his chances. She Then introduced herself as Karen(?) Miles, Mike's wife. I was taken aback to say the least. So we chatted about how bad springs is and such. When she left I shook her hand, wished her luck, and said again how much I do admire Mike. Very nice lady, and cute kids.

It was a great time. If you saw a guy walking around with a VICTORY 04 baseball jersey, that was me.

7. I Was Outside The Event Center
I was the guy with the red hair, goatee, and white hat collecting signatures for a petition for using cigarette tax money to fund children's health programs.

I got almost 120 signatures yesterday - thank you, Dems!!!!

9. I signed such a petition.
Maybe I met you and didn't even know it. (I wasn't really paying attention to the features of individuals with petitions, so I don't know). It's too bad that it was so crowded that there was no way to try to find someone that you didn't already know. Well, I mean I'm glad it was crowded because that means alot of people participating, but the downside was the impossibility of finding someone not already familiar.

11. There Were a Couple of Us Working The Crowd
I started outside the Event Center, and later moved inside as the sun moved across the sky and took away the shade. I met an African-American woman who was also collecting signatures, and a group supporting the initiative had a table set up.

I was glad to see so many dedicated Democrats in one place!

12. There Were Several Petitions Being Circulated
Edited on Mon May-24-04 09:17 AM by CO Liberal
I was circulating the one for using cigarette tax money to fund health care programs for kids. Another petition called for the elimination of the CSAP tests, and a third was a "Fast Track" petition for mass transit programs.

I signed the last two - I can't sign the one I'm circulating.
