What to do about the State Democratic Party.
We need to make some kind of concensus. The state Democratic party is becoming factionalized. We need to embrace our progressive roots but realize that a progressive candidate is not always going to win in certain races. I don't know how much Chris Gates had to do with the wins of 2004, or how much Pat Waak will have to do with the outcome of 2006. But we need to heal the rift that exists. We cannot leave ANY wing of our party feeling alienated and disaffected. Nor should any wing of our party do anything to spite another. We have a majority to hold onto in the state legislature. We have a Governor's race to win. We have a 3rd Congressional District to retain and a 7th to gain. We also have a Democratic TABOR amendment to make sure gets passed this year. We need to be unified and not squabbling.
