Colorado National Guard Services deploying in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts
BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard’s 140th Services Flight “Ninja Cooks” is deploying 21 members on Saturday, Sept. 3, to provide relief services in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
These highly skilled personnel are trained services professionals who will assist the local authorities by providing food services, lodging assistance, mortuary affairs, and more.
The team has been requested to command the services operations for the incident command center. Headquartered at Buckley Air Force Base, the unit will mobilize to Gulfport, Miss.
The unit is very experienced in support to national disasters. They have supported the Buffalo Creek Fire, Big Thompson Flood, St. Joseph Floods, and they mobilized to D.C. just after 9/11. In addition to their experience, they were honored with the national Kenneth W. Disney Award for outstanding Services in 2005.
