U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave is running neck and neck with challenger Stan Matsunaka in the 4th Congressional District race, a poll revealed Thursday.
The privately commissioned poll found that 48 percent of registered voters in the district favor re-electing Musgrave. But 45 percent of the 400 voters polled would support second-time Democratic challenger Stan Matsunaka, according to the poll by Ridder/Braden Inc.
The poll was taken between May 21-24 and has a margin of error of 4.89 percentage points.
Craig Hughes, senior associate at Ridder/Braden Inc., would not reveal the entity that commissioned the poll. Although the polling company has conducted polls since 1986 for Democratic candidates and nonprofits, Matsunaka and the Colorado Democratic Party said they did not contract for it.
