HELP! Condo problem in Boulder
Does anyone know if there are any city agencies protecting home owner's rights in Boulder? I know they exist for renters. If not any other legal methods?

I have had a leak in my crawl space since this spring after a month of having dehumidifiers and air filters cleaning out my place the leak occurred again this time there's sewage involved. It smells in here. The AC is not on and hasn't been for over a week. And even if it's back on by 5:00 like they promised they will be working on the pipes for 2-3 weeks (their estimate) and have the water and ac off during the day from 9-5. I don't work until the afternoon so it's off my schedule and I don't want my cat here in 90 degree heat.

Thanks.

1. there was a thread in this forum related to that issue
Did you read the suggestions? Maybe the people responsible for fixing it (or insurance) can put you up in a hotel for a few days (or weeks)?

2. Boulder County Health Department
Since I lived in a place that got condemned for exactly that kind of problem, you might want to call the health department and complain about how the management company is handling this. I assume that as a condo owner, you pay a fee for a management service and are not physically responsible for the maintenance of the common services of the building.

3. Turns out
The leak may be coming from city sewage. The Plummer said it looks like two months before they'll be done now.

Considering I own and was trying to sell I'm leery of getting the place condemned.

5. Then it's definitely time to talk to the neighbors.
And put pressure on the plumbers and mgmt company. Just because you're the only one affected doesn't mean that sewage isn't leaking between the walls, under flooring, etc. If there's water, it will find a way (says she who had to replace 100 sq feet of flooring because the wax ring on the toilet had a big bubble in it... Not fun. Not pretty.)

Leaking sewage needs to be fixed this week, not when we get around to it. It's a serious health hazard, because everything is carried in sewage - cholera, typhoid, dysentery, you name it. Our population is well traveled and multi-cultural and we only avoid serious water borne illness because we treat the water. When your living space is contaminated, no amount of water treatment will help.

Get your neighbors to help you put pressure on the management company. That is not acceptable performance. Put pressureo n the city, too.
