Rep. Diana DeGette will help give President Bush a less-than-warm welcome to her district on Friday.
Just two days after Bush used his first-ever presidential veto to block her bill expanding embryonic stem-cell research, he's scheduled to be appear at a private home in Cherry Hills Village to raise money for 7th District congressional candidate Rick O'Donnell, a Republican.
DeGette plans to lead a protest rally at 11:30 a.m. at First Universalist Church of Denver, 4101 E. Hampden Ave. DeGette will be joined by patients who, she says, would benefit from embryonic stem-cell research."She is just going there because the president has refused to meet with her on this issue, and to express her disappointment and outrage that he used his first and only veto on this potentially life-saving research," DeGette spokesman Brandon MacGillis said Thursday.

bush will be in Denver next Friday, July 21, at a fund raising luncheon. Price $1000 to eat lunch, $4000 for a photo op.
He will be lunching at a home in Cherry Hills. The street is just south of Hampden and 1 street before the actual entrance to the Cherry Hills Country Club, approx 3900 S, off of University.
Attendees are being asked to arrive at 10:30 and we assume bush will be arriving around 11:30.
A goal to aspire to, would be to line University, from Hampden, south to at least where the entrance is. There is a back way in, which bush could take. However, University provides the most visibility and also the people paying blood money need to be able to see us and our signs.
The 24 bus goes down University. It is quite frequent, check www.rtd-denver.com for times and routes. Get off on the first stop past Hampden, going south.
There is a parking lot at University and Hampden where the seminary used to be. It is private property but VERY empty. There are no signs there that say no parking. There are 2 churches just north and I have left messages to see about parking in their lots.
THERE IS A SIDEWALK THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF UNIVERSITY BLVD. There is a brick wall which separates the "community" from the street. The sidewalk is a legal place to be, as long as people don't go into private yards (which is impossible due to the "wall").
Assemble if you like, at 9:45 am at Bed Bath and Beyond parking lot in Cherry Creek. 1st and University. South end of the parking lot. We will fit as many people as we can on the dragon bus, which will be painted with signs on the side.
The bus will go down University and drop us off. The bus will then serve as a rolling billboard. Others can carpool or follow each other.
Sign painting for the bus, in the parking lot next to the Mercury Cafe, at 7 PM, Wednesday, July 19th.
WE WILL BE FASTING IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE TROOPS OUT FAST IN WASHINGTON, DC AND THE WORLD. If you care to join us in the fast, please do so. If you would like fasting guidelines let me know.
Because people are paying $1000 to eat lunch with the man who thinks he is the emperor of the world, we would like to provide to those who go without, on a daily basis. At 9 am, Thursday, July 21st, we will do another food give away in Civic Center Park, before we go down south.
We need donations of food and water and drink or money to buy them. Did you know there is NO source of drinking water in Civic Center Park? The porta potties are so foul, Hickenlooper should check them out some time, and see if he would like that to be his restroom.
LET'S LET bush KNOW THAT DENVER DOESN'T LIKE THE WAY HE IS RUNNING THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE SPREAD FAR AND WIDE
