Sitton, the 21-year-old son of Steve and Judy Sitton, was a 2003 graduate of Montrose High School.
He was serving as a medic in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division and had planned on returning to college next year and becoming a physician's assistant, according to his father.
Boy Scouts in the Montrose area filled the Sitton's yard with American flags after learning of his death. Sitton had been an Eagle Scout.

``We heard about two o'clock Saturday,'' Steve Sitton said.
Chris Sitton, an Eagle Scout and track star, graduated from Montrose High School in 2003. He was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division and had served five months in Afghanistan.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
