http://www.coloradoclubforgrowth.org/Also Colorado Confidential has a reply on the website from some individual named "Minuteman". He thinks the CFG wants its candidates to support immigration.
http://coloradoconfidential.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=4F27C1D2FA11B78501F2DF8BCCE31CD0?diaryId=818Here is an excerpt. This link doesn't seem to work. I found it by googling Club for Growth immigration issues.
" But, Doug Lamborn was the only Republican Congressional candidate calling for guest worker programs for illegal immigrants, as noted more than once in published articles in the Pueblo Chieftan. That was, by the way, long after his endorsement from the Club for Growth. Looks like his interviews with Toomey and company went well. You could speculate they trained him well. He'll have to dodge the bullet for a season in the general election and say he's not in favor of Bush's open borders mentality, but, if he's sent to Congress, that's when the Club for Growth will be calling in chits.
And do not think the Club for Growth won't go to the ends of the earth to get "guest worker" congressmen elected. They'll fight tooth and toenail to help defeat those who will stand in their way on the matter. Here's an example.
Robert Vasquez, Republican--and who was endorsed by TOM TANCREDO--was the ONLY anti-immigration candidate in Idaho's 1st Congressional District and attributes his loss in a 6 man GOP primary to the Club for Growth. Vasquez, who is the grandson of Mexican immigrants, warned: "The example provided in Idaho by Club for Growth should serve as notice to those of us battling the invasion of illegal aliens." He specifically warns of a GOP commitment to "Crush Challengers who are against Illegal Immigration."
See this fully reported and see the horrific dirty tricks the Club for Growth undertook in Nathan Miller's article in For the Cause here:
http://www.forthecause.us/ftc-n-muller-060612-Robert_Vasquez.shtmlBy the way, that article that was excerpted, above, from the New York Times was written about Congressman Mike Pence, of Indiana, who has a "perfect" 100 point rating from the Club for Growth.
Here's some more of the article, "Conjure what might be called the perfect conservative, and chances are he would look a lot like Representative Mike Pence, the Indiana Republican who in just three terms has turned 100 House allies into a vanguard and himself into one of his party’s rising stars. Or that was the case until this spring when he sought compromise in the rancorous immigration debate. His complicated plan would strengthen border security and send illegal immigrants home, but let most of them quickly return. Since then, Mr. Pence — named last year’s Man of the Year by the conservative weekly Human Events — has looked to some conservatives like this year’s Benedict Arnold. They say he has lent his conservative prestige to a form of liberal amnesty."
Edited...I actually read the article a bit more thoroughly.
