What are some good school districts to work for around the Denver/Boulder area?
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 08:43 PM by Fountain79
A couple of years ago I thought about moving out of my home state of Missouri. I ended up deciding against it but now again I am wanting to do some research about some different places. What are some districts I would want to look at around the Denver/Boulder area? Aurora seemed to have a good salary schedule and I've heard it's a little cheaper there than Denver. Any ideas?

1. Good districts..
In the SE part of the metro area, Cherry Creek Schools are very good. Douglas County, south of the metro area, is probably the highest rated school district and the salaries are competitive.

Denver and Aurora are perhaps higher in terms of salary, but the schools are more challenging to teach in.

If you want to be closer to Boulder, Boulder schools are great and some of the north metro districts are pretty good, like Adams Five Star.

2. See I don't necessarily mind challenging...
What is the ethnic make-up of the Aurora schools? I like working in diverse districts.

4. Aurora Schools ethnic makeup
In general, Aurora is about 30% Hispanic, 30% African-American, 30% Non-hispanic caucasion, and 10% other. That can vary some from school to school.

3. My ex-wife and a couple of friends teach in Jeffco
it's a huge district and not exactly diverse, but some "pods" are pretty cool.

Aurora and DPS would be diverse, but extremely challenging

Douglas County is repuke central

Boulder County is affluent and still somewhat progressive
