Major Cold Blast, More Snow In The Forecast
Highs Friday And Saturday May Not Hit 10 Degrees

DENVER -- January is known for having some of the coldest air of the winter season, and this year will be no exception.

A large chunk of bitterly cold, polar air is on the move toward Colorado. It has been parked over Alaska and Canada for the past several days.

By the weekend, Denver may not see afternoon highs get out of the single digits, and overnight lows could be well below zero.

1. Jeebus!
It got over 60 degrees around here today. My neighbor across the street was enjoying the sun in her tank top and shorts. Their home faces south.

I remember back in the late 1980s, it was below zero for almost a week. The sky remained an eerie grey for days. I walked out of my office building downtown and thought how the sky looked as if it would crack open and little pieces of ice would fall to ground. The old primitive brain kicking in!

Anyhow, I'm not so worried about the cold as I am more snow. Guess it's time to make sure we've got all the staples in the pantry. Tomorrow will be another grocery shopping day.

2. I haven't seen anything definite about amounts yet
It may be too early for such predictions, but I was hoping that the meteorologists would at least know if it's going to be light or heavy.

Accuweather says flurries only. They get my vote!

3. All the reports...
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 04:39 PM by Oreo
seem to be tempering us for a nasty one. They all say... it'll be a light fluffy snow and will be spread out over 4 days instead of getting dumped on like before.

I moved from Minnesota in March and I've never seen as much snow at once as we've had the past month.

From 9 News...
The heaviest snowfall appears to be coming Friday night into Saturday morning with 3 to 6 inches expected in the Metro Area with slightly higher amounts in and near the foothills.

4. Aargh!
I haven't been able to drive my car since the first blizzard. Looks like it'll be snowed and iced in still more, undoing what little melting there's been.
