1. Drop Dead Ronald Reagan Ritter!
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 10:02 PM by Democrats_win
Better to have an extremist Republican than a coward moderate Democrat to accomplish their dirty work.

If they're not going to do anything for the working people, then they sure as heck better not do anything to help themselves such as overturning Amendment 41. Live with it or let the courts rule against it!!!!!

Besides, that important work of banning tanning beds needs to be done!

Colorado's elected Democrats are Worthless! I'll vote against all Dems on my ballot next time!

3. It's politics. It will happen, eventually. And Romanoff will help it get done.

 Now all of y'all, take a deep breath. It will work out. The Republican hysteria machine went into overdrive, and no one countered that effectively. We know eliminating one part of the union process won't bring business to it's knees, but that is not generally known. The wingnut propaganda is quite well entrenched, that is the real problem.

5. I posted this yesterday in GDP. This is way too early to be so judgmental about Ritter.
"We just avoided a train wreck when Gov. Ritter vetoed a Dem labor bill. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but, he promised to bring back civility to Colorado politics. The bill was rammed through and business was throwing a real hissy fit. They actually backed him. Ritter is a straight arrow Jesuit kind of guy, very Catholic, very married. The legislature scenario was almost like a cartoon. Anyhoo, while supporting the substance of the bill, he told each side to play nice. He and Romanoff, the Senate majority leader have the ability to pull this off. They will make the next opposition response look like histrionics, a real fit of the vapors.

Colorado is still a red state tinged with blue. Labor is having a hissy fit. But that is ok. Business is going to have a come to Jesus moment in the next few years. They, most self indulgently, have bought into that Heritage Foundation nonsense much long."

.....

I understand if you were invested in this issue. A voice for the working people dependent on each paycheck and on pensions and benefits is hugely important for the continued health and stability of this country. And I know that a strident voice for this is often seen as essential to obtain that. But an understanding of the long view is necessary, perhaps not as long as that of the Bene Gesserit, but longer than the passage of a too quickly presented measure. It took Colorado and the U.S. a while to get to this sorry point, it will take some time to get out. Time will tell us more about Ritter and of the resolve of the Democratic leadership.

Additionally, I belonged to a real teachers' union, the AFT. They kicked butt when the NEA was still a weeney batter. They also made some strategic mistakes. We need to be smarter.

6. Here's the long view
repukes and "Democrats" pandering to corporate interests have killed or neutered unions, radically degraded workers' rights, reduced the standard of living for every working-class or middle-class American, reduced the middle class by 20%, concentrated more and more and more and more wealth in the hands of a few, and brought the country to the brink of economic collapse. It's nothing new. There has been a concerted, steady, relentless effort for over a hundred years by the capitalist elite in this country.

This is one more example. Ritter placed the kneejerk "concerns" of a handful of business leaders ahead of the needs of most Coloradans. He blatantly broke a *specific* campaign promise doing it.

He's a lying traitor. Period.

7. Actually,
There's been a concerted effort to undermine the poor and middle classes since before our country became independent. A few people, FDR, have tried to revive the middle class, unions and poor, or at least outwardly showed that they were trying, but for the most part everything about our country has been for the rich from day one.

The average joe colonist back in 1775-6 couldn't have cared less about taxation without representation or a revolution. That was all started by the rich and famous.

8. I think the bill will be back after some of this furor has died down
and when hopefully the Democrats in the Leg. don't give the impression that they rammed the bill through without debate. I'd bet ten bucks Ritter would like to sign this bill, but he didn't approve of the way the Dems handled the media spin. It'll be back.

9. I call bullshit
In his comments after screwing workers, he added the phrase about being concerned about how the bill was passed because he was too gutless to tell the real reason he vetoed it--namely, that he is on the side of the cpitalist elite.
