Denver—
ProgressNowAction delivered more than 350 stories of ordinary citizens to the State Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee today, voicing the concerns Coloradans have about the War in Iraq. The committee is considering a proposed resolution opposing sending more soldiers to Iraq.

“Hundreds of Coloradans gave us their thoughts on the war which we then delivered to the State Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. These stories highlight the outrage, frustration, and betrayal people feel about this war,” said Michael Huttner, Executive Director of ProgressNowAction.

Since the Iraq War began, there have been more than 3,000 American troop casualties and, as of January 2006, American taxpayers have spent more than $378 billion.

“The Iraq war is one of the most critical issues of our generation—44 Coloradans have died and Coloradans have shouldered nearly $6 billion in costs—we can’t let this war continue to dredge the pockets of hard working Coloradans and rob thousands of troops of their lives,” added Huttner.

Today ProgressNow launched an online call to action to voice their thoughts and opinions on the Iraq War. Comments were delivered to the State Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. In the few hours since the call to action went out, more than 350 people responded.
