All three of my kids graduated from the Pueblo district, Dist 70. Pueblo is an interesting town. We spent 10 years there. Costs are lower than much of the state. The town politics are heavily Democratic BUT it is the biggest little town you've ever seen. People in the power structure have a tendency to be in the good ol' boy club.
Teachers are paid less than comparable districts and there is a pretty intense sense of entitlement by many parents and students. Their is a high teen pregnancy rate and a fairly high dropout rate.
Insurance in Pueblo is higher than in Colorado Springs due to the number of uninsured drivers(for auto) and high rate of medical issues in town (for Medical).
I know some outstanding teachers there and some that aren't as good, just like elsewhere.
4 High Schools in town, South, Centennial, Central and East. South and Centennial are the higher performing schools.
