Racist Sign in Canon City
A local business, "Blades-N-Bullets" has posted a racist sign in it's store window at 416 Main Street, in Canon City. The sign is a picture of Barack Obama, with the question, "Are you ready for Barack Obama? Do you have you guns, do you have your ammunition?

In light of Canon City's past history with the Ku Klux Klan, and the recent domestic terrorist shootings in Tennessee, this is horrid.

1. Maybe you should report it to the Secret Service.
They might be interested enough to pay a visit and find out exactly what the guy was trying to say.

Are you familiar with this business? If so, shed some light on it for the rest of us.

10. No, I own several myself, but many here took this sign as racist
and threatening. The Secret Service took it seriously as well. The sign is now down.

6. you sure it isnt just
a sign to have people buy more guns and ammo out of fears that he will push through ant-gun legislation.

I have a few friends who are stockpiling ammo before the election and they aren't in the least bit racist.

you are really grasping at straws here.

11. In defense of Blades-n-Bullets
I would like to take this opportunity to clear this whole issue up. I realize it is a little late, as this thread was posted over a year ago, but there is a whole different side to this whole fiasco then it would seem at first glance. I am the wife of the manager/co-owner of Blades-n-Bullets and daughter-in-law of the other co-owner.

The sign was never intended to be considered racist, and perhaps it was naive of me not to guess people would take it that way, as people love to assume the worst. The person named Hendo in this thread had it right, it had nothing to do with race, and everything to do with our President's anti-gun legislation. The point of the picture was to take advantage of the current political climate and to boost our ammunition and gun sales based off of the very real threat of losing our very livelihood due to declining availability if ammunition and firearms.

As an avid anti-racist person, I am appalled that people have seen our store in such a negative light. We would never endorse or encourage any violence toward our elected leaders. I find it indescribably sad that certain people immediately jump to the assumption that we are being racist when it has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the policies that the leader of our country holds. I also am disappointed that instead of anyone on this board actually contacting us and trying to clear this issue up, you would rather makes rash judgments and accuse us of something that isn't true, just to bolster your own agenda. It speaks volumes on your character.

If anyone has any questions, or if I haven't been clear on any point, please give us a call at (719)-276-1557 and ask for Bob or Arie to discuss this issue further.

Even if our political opinions differ on certain subjects, we want nothing more than to have clear headed discussions. We are all Americans and all want what is best for our country, even if our methods of achieving that are varied. Let's be done with the mud slinging, and try to verify facts before we assume the worst.

12. Your rash choice of marking angle speaks volumes as well.
Live with it.

In other news, it's been a good while. Obama take your guns yet?
