Local holiday candies
Just a reminder to long time residents and a heads up for people new to Colorado.

Enstrom's and Hammonds are two candy makers with local factories.

Enstom's is a third generation candy company. Toffee is their specialty. A local favorite here in Colorado that can be found sold in lots of stores.

They make a peppermint cookie bark I want to try this holiday season.

Hammond's, since 1920, has all sorts of traditional holiday candies like ribbons, straws and pillows. They even make old fashioned clove pillows that I want to try this year. The factory is n Denver. I used to go to the location on 29 Ave in NW Denver. But they changed hands and moved. I understand that the candy is made the same as it always was. But they have added a natural line for people with allergies to food dyes.

1. I LOVE Enstrom's toffee.
I only allow myself to indulge once a year. I usually take the 3 days off before Thanksgiving so I'll have to head down to Cherry Creek and look at all the goodies. The peppermint bark looks interesting - I hope they'll have samples.

2. I know what you mean
A friend and I went up to the mtns for the day to see the aspens a couple of weeks ago. We stopped in Georgetown for lunch right across from a ice cream & candy shop where they make their own toffee. I got some toffee and it was super. But I still want some of that peppermint bark from E's.
