Going to Colorado for my first time!!!

Boulder to be specific...

My friend just got moved over from Berkeley, CA to Boulder by REI and my wife and I are going to visit in February. We are snowboard enthusiasts and have yet to experience the fresh Colorado powder. From looking on the internet, it looks like we're leaning towards 3 days of riding in Winter Park a day in Boulder and then back to CA.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to fun things to do and check out, any info on Winter Park or any other snow resorts in the vicinity, cheap places to stay by snow resorts (Does anyone have a cabin they'd be willing to rent us???), etc...

We are travelling with our 5 month old son, so we are definitely trying to keep it easy, simple and the most fun possible!!

1. Hmmm... Winter Park

would not be my first choice. It's an extremely physically demanding mountain and is about the hardest place to get to (you have to drive up a winding mountain pass).

If you go to some of the places in Summit County (Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge), it'll be easier to get to and have a wider variety of terrain. It's also easier to get from place to place if you want to ski different mountains on different days or check out other places like Frisco (cool little mountain town). Winter Park is sort of isolated. But, if you go to WP I'm sure you'll still have a good time. I'm just partial to The Summit.

2. Keystone

My friend was talking about this place... if we wanted to do a few places in Summit County, then where would a good place to find a place to stay be that is centrally located, or do you think that those are doable as daytrips (with a 6 month old baby keep in mind...).

3. If you stay in Frisco or Silverthorne that would do it

Silverthorne is about 20 minutes from Keystone, maybe 25 from Copper Mountain.

4. Hi There...

So now everything is booked. Staying two nights in Frisco at some cheaper than cheap motel on Main Street. I'm looking forward to all the great snowboarding and wondering if you have any suggestions for other things to do after the mountains close or if its pretty much happy hour and then bed time in Frisco? Between my wife and I, one of us will be with our son for a 1/2 day while the other boards, so anything else you might be able to suggest would be great as well.

I'll take lots of pics and post them when we get back :)

Things to do in Frisco? Well, first of all there is a big outlet mall in Silverthorne if you're interested in shopping. They're easy to access from the interstate. Other than that, I'm not sure there is much else to do around there in winter other than ski. That's about all I've ever done, but then again most of my experience with the area has been in the company of my parents (I'm 22), so it's not like I'm big into any party scene that may be out there. Breckenridge would probably be the best place to check out if you're looking for off-mountain fun. I know there's a swimming pool and indoor tennis courts at Copper Mountain, but you'll have to pay an access fee.
