Mike Rosen's loss of one million dollars through a wealth management firm that sponsors his radio show, is one of the biggest and most famous busts in Colorado since Baby Doe's husband went bust during the 1893 Silver Bust.
Rosen's loss came through a wealth management firm called Agile group. This bust is much like the one made famous by the opera, "The Ballad of Baby Doe," who was told by her husband on his deathbed to hang on to the Matchless Mine. Years later, she froze to death at that mine. Rosen held on to his right wing laissez faire free market ideas even as his nest egg was swallowed up by the Maddoff crimes.
Unlike the tragic hero, Baby Doe Tabor, Rosen is anything but a hero. Just think, a sponsor of his radio show helped other people lose money too. Agile group should have been looking out for scams but failed. Now people who are too old to start again, have lost a bundle. Rosen says that he'll put off retirement now but will probably have time to re-establish his nest egg.
As a right wing radio host, Rosen is best known for bashing teachers. Of all the talk show hosts in the Denver area, I believe that Rosen has the longest tenure at any single station. Tuesday's Rocky Mountain News devoted it's cover to the story while the Denver Post also had the story on the front page.
