Location change for Kerry/Edward RAlly!
Due to the weather, the location for the Kerry/Edwards Rally has been changed tomorrow morning -- From Fitzsimmons to the Fillmore Auditorium, at Colfax and Clarkson. It has a capacity of 3,500 people, so it is advised to arrive early.

2. Arriving early is a good idea
In St. Pete, Florida almost 10,000 showed up on less than a day's notice. Only about 2,500 were able to fit inside, before the fire marshall and the secret service made us close the doors.

Good luck. I hope you have a great rally. We sure did.

4. Thanks for the well-wishes, floridaguy!
:hi:

I guess there will be a lot of people on the streets..... too bad the location had to be changed! Just watch... it will be bright sunlight. :)

I guess their arriving flight was delayed because of the weather.....

5. I was there and it stunk
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 04:33 PM by El Supremo
Waited in line for 2.5 hours because they didn't open the doors at 10:30 like I heard - also because of the security scanners. If it had rained we would have been drowned just as bad as at Fitzsimmons. It started 1.25 hours late. Many were turned away because of the 3500 person capacity. And less than 20% could even see the speakers. I had to leave before Kerry even spoke. I wonder how many were drenched after it was over while waiting for their bus? Guess I'll see it on TV.

6. I figured it would be something like that
Way to "energize the base", eh?

Thanks for your report, but sorry it was such a bust for you.

7. My daughters went and were very excited...
I am sorry to hear some folks had a bad experience. My two teenagers went and were just thrilled to see and hear Kerry and Edwards AND both their families. My older daughter actually got to see, in person, the man for whom she will be voting.

They went expecting a crowd, since the news was all over this morning that the rally had been moved. Maybe having that expectation improved their experience.

They knew things were running late because I can see the hotel where the candidates were staying from my office window....again, maybe knowing things were running late made a difference.
