...The Bennet campaign revealed earlier this month that it would petition its way onto the August primary ballot in addition to working its way through the precinct caucus and state assembly process.

Bennet’s primary opponent, former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, said the move meant Bennet was shifting his attention away from the grass roots of the party.

“If you’re going to be able to hold this seat in the fall, you’ve got to be able to rally the troops,” he told The Hill.

Romanoff has topped Bennet in early precinct voting in the caucus process, but Bennet has maintained a slight lead among voters in the polls.....

1. Robb, explain this to me...

Why on earth would Bennet want to leave the grassroots and try to take another way around to getting the nomination.

Even the delegates are picking Romanoff are being smart, because they really see Bennet for what he is - a corporatist carpetbagger that has no business being an U.S. Senator. Oh that letter he penned for public option? Turned out to be all noise.

If Bennet was really for public option, he'd be introducing legislation to add public option right about now, closing all other insurers loopholes right about now.

He isn't.

Romanoff would have been on it from Day One. And forcing Reid to schedule a vote every single day.

...Around 3% of CO Dems hit the caucuses. 0.3% will hit the convention.

Hitting the road for signatures is good exposure and good campaigning. :shrug:

Either Bennet or Romanoff will be on the ballot in November. The two camps will need to get past the snark and sniping before then in order to hold the seat.
