From the link:

"The Colorado legislature has passed House Bill 1281, which removes authority from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to regulate Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, phone services offered by cable and Internet companies."

Right now, voip is cheap or free (skype). There are powerful interests that would like to get some control over it. Governments would like to tax it and corporations would like to control it and charge phone rates for it. Also, it's difficult for the gov to snoop on your voip calls.

Before you pass judgment on this issue, go to skype.com to get an idea of what voip is all about.

Deregulation hasn't gone all that well for us....

You think self regulating is the better way to go?
