The subject line says it all, I'm possibly up for a software product design in Arvada and I really want to know what its like up there. Of course I wanna know what the political temperature is up there, but also just all around how is it?

1. Well, it is Jefferson County--one of the Metro Denver counties

But, while Denver City and County is quite liberal, JeffCO has had majority RETHUGs in their county commissioner seats and other elected positions for many years. Nonetheless that area is growing and includes some diversity--Latinos and other minorities-- perhaps a bit more than some areas of the county (though less than in nearby Wheat Ridge), has a pretty quaint old Towne and is building up quite a bit as you go North towards Broomfield. It isn't that far to Boulder, with its extremely progressive nature.

Given you are in Metro Denver, though, you won't feel too surrounded by RETHUG politics-- at least not like you would moving south to Douglas County and onward towards Colorado Springs.

2. If I remember my areas correctly, you'd be represented by the scumbag Coffmann

unless you luck out and decide to live in Westminster or Lakewood, where you'd have Perlmutter as your Congressman, or if you decide to live in Lafayette or Boulder, Polis (first gay congressman elected) would be your representative.

Arvada is a nice place to live, about 10 miles northwest of Denver, so not a bad location.

Right now, Colorado is all blue in terms of state government, both Dems control the state House and Senate, and Gov is a lameduck Dem and will be replaced with another Dem (thanks to Tancredo). All but two US Reps are Dems, the two in District 6 and District 5 are Rethugs. And we have the two Dem US Senator although I would call Bennet a DINO because he's a criminal for fucking up the PERA (teacher retirement fund) in the tune of millions by investing in the stock market when it was still in crash mode during his tenure as DPS Superintendent.

Just stay out of Colorado Springs if you want to keep your sanity. If you really want to see the area, avoid Colorado Springs altogether and visit Manitou Springs - worth the trip there - it's a liberal oasis in a sea of red in that area. Take the cog railway to Pikes Peak and drink PUHLENTY of water. Altitude sickness is common here - my wife (from New York) was sick for 3 months before she got acclimated to the Colorado environment - her parents aren't, and they've gotten sick way too many times to count.

3. Arvada CD7
Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Edgewater, Arvada, Westminster -- all in Perlmutter's (Democrat) Congressional District.

Both of our state house members are Democrats in Arvada (Benefield and Gagliardi) and our main state senator is a Democrat (Hudak).

4. Thanks for posting that info
I grew up in Arvada, but have not paid close attention to their voting habits. Arvada tends to get a reputation because of the mega-church. I'm glad to know it leans Dem. :hi:
