DUer looking for housing in Denver.
Edited on Mon Dec-13-10 06:21 PM by intheflow
Hi Everyone! I don't hang in the forum but thought I'd post here as I look for housing in SE Denver (DU, Wash Park, Corey Merril, Congress Park, etc.). My landlord is selling this place so I have to be out by the end of January. :(

Worse, I can't seem to find anyone to housemate with! I put an ad up on CL, where I've had good luck in the past. But this time, even though I have specified I want to live in SE Denver, I'm getting hit up by lonely men in remote areas (Elizabeth, Strasberg, and Firestone). :puke: I have no problem rooming with a man, but lonely men in rural areas sound like serial killer territory to me, not to mention each of those locations is at least 45 minutes from where I'd like to live!

Anyway, if you have or know of anyone who has housing that might be a good match for a middle-aged progressive chick and her super-chill 60lb. dog, please let me know. I don't want a housing complex or apartment building, I'm hoping to find a house/carriage house/duplex to either get on my own or share. My budget is around $750/mo including utilities. I have excellent landlord, roommate and character references, as does my dog. I even have character references from real, live DUers I've met all over the country. :)

Any leads appreciated! Thanks in advance! :hi:

Edited to add a few more details about me: emotionally stable, generally cheerful, tidy in common spaces, happy to live with anyone regardless of age, race, religion, gender as long as they love dogs and we get along well.

1. I Live in SE Denver
Are you looking for an apt, or house?

There are a few house rentals in the hood, and lots of apts. on University Blvd.

If you want, I can look for houses and forward the phone number to you. My hood was named safest Denver neighborhood recently and it's 37th in the country.

2. Can't do an apartment building,

or the complexes that look like projects except they're in good neighborhoods. But very happy to have a garden level apartment of my own or share a house with someone. I'd love a house but can't afford one on my own and don't know anyone who can go in on one with me. My biggest thing is I'd like a fenced yard for my dog. I lived in the DU area all through grad school and liked it a lot. Been cruising around there looking for For Rent signs, but they either don't take dogs, they're grossly over-priced preying on students, or they're housed by undergrads who don't want a 46-year-old woman cramping their party style. I was hoping there'd be a lot more rentals open in that area since it's break, but no luck.

So... long answer short, yeah! If you see anything that looks promising, please do send me a pm with the phone number. Thanks! :hi:

3. You might check in at Stella's Coffee Shop

in the 1400 S.Block of Grant St.

I think they used to have a bulletin board in there... if not, it's definitely a good place to try to do some networking.

Good luck!

I'll keep my eyes open for signs as well.

4. Stella's! Good call!
Though I think you mean on South Pearl. That would be a fun neighborhood to be in.

I'm sure for a very good deal, you can probably "rent" it... And it's in SE Denver. 5 minutes from Cherry Creek Mall, 10 minutes from downtown....

If you need more information, PM me and I'll help what I can.

House location is 1st and Holly - www.130sholly.com
