U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez, R-Colo., is more flush with campaign cash than any other freshman House member going into this fall's re-election battle.

Beauprez had $1.22 million on hand as of June 30. That's $1 million more than he had at the same point during the 2002 campaign to represent Colorado's newest congressional district

"He knows he's a target and that he better raise money early, and he has," said Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher of The Rothenberg Political Report, a nonpartisan Washington newsletter.

The 7th Congressional District is considered to be one of the most hotly contested in the country. Beauprez won his seat two years ago by 121 votes, in what turned out to be a $3 million race.

2. She has spent a bit of that money

She only has $1.19 million is cash. She has probably raised a lot of that money through direct mail solicitations. She is nationally-known, so Republicans who live outside of Florida are likely to contirbute to her campaign. But these solicitations cost money, so that is likely what she has spent a lot of is on.

I have heard that many in CD 7 are not happy with Beauprez. THough Thomas does not have a lot of name recognition.
