Reporter HeraldColorado’s unemployment rate decreased from 9.2 percent to 8.8 percent while the national numbers went up, from 8.8 percent to 9 percent.
Employers added 2,200 nonfarm payroll jobs between March and April, bringing the total number of Colorado jobs up almost 2.23 million, according to a report released Friday morning by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
Though the numbers are encouraging, Ellen Golombek, executive director of the department, said in a press release, “We would like to see these trends continue for several months before reading too much into the news.”
Also on Friday, the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that between March and April the number of unemployed people decreased in Loveland, Fort Collins and Greeley. Loveland saw employment rise from 31,308 in March to 31,791 in April.
