National movement prompts local action against disparity

Actions by Jeffrey "Mo" Shacklett resulted in a meeting of people determined to speak locally against the disparity of wealth in the United States. The meeting took place Monday in Alpine Park.

Shacklett said a suggestion from MoveOn.org prompted him to organize the meeting.

"I was laid off a year ago, and I'm a single father with a 4-year-old child struggling to make ends meet," Shacklett said.

"Many others are in the same situation," he continued. "The meeting today was the first step toward organizing a grassroots effort to change the disparity of wealth in this country." ...
