For those who argue that the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement isn’t organized, Becca Chavez points out that Occupy Denver is organized enough to have daily meetings, buttons, T-shirts and a website.
Chavez, who acts an “unofficial” spokeswoman for Occupy Denver, was joking, but she had a point.
Occupy Denver has grown from a few people sleeping on benches in front of the Colorado Capitol to a “tent city” near Veteran’s Memorial west of the Capitol, with more than 20 tents, a “main area” and a free kitchen manned by two chefs who are donating their time to the cause.
Chavez, from Colorado Springs, is an underemployed 2009 graduate of Colorado State University. She has been applying for full-time work, but now works part-time in retail and lives with her parents ...
