Dem leaders call for unity, no matter who wins Senate primary

BOSTON - Republicans might be waging a civil war over Colorado's U.S. Senate race, but Democratic leaders were preaching a different message Monday in hopes of quelling a rift in their own ranks.
Colorado's delegation to the Democratic National Convention includes sizable factions for both Senate contenders in the Aug. 10 primary, Attorney General Ken Salazar and Fountain educator Mike Miles.
The Miles camp often complains that the state and national party establishment has appeared to favor Salazar because of his bigger name and campaign fund-raising dominance. He is Colorado's top elected Democrat and is one of the state's 63 convention delegates.
