New website calls Joe Lieberman a DINO.

Two DINOs: One from "the modern Stone Age," the other from the modern Robber Baron Age.

"Democrat In Name Only" or DINO, is a name a new website applies to Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT.)

Lieberman is up for election in 2006, and www.TimeToGoJoe.com is asking people to pledge to donate to a possible primary challenger.

Lieberman votes the website cites critically include:

Confirmation Alberto R. Gonzales (he who approved torture and thinks the Geneva Convention is quaint and antiquated) to be Attorney General. Joe voted WITH the Republican Majority

...Cloture Motion on Senate Bill 256 - Bankruptcy Bill. Joe voted WITH the Republican Majority

2. Would you rather have Lieberman or Nancy "Gingrich Girl" Johnson?
While I'm not a fan of Lieberman by any stretch, he is popular across the board in the state and his name alone keeps people like Nancy Johnson from running. If Lieberman loses in a primary (slim chance, I think), it would be a prime opportunity for a Nancy Johnson or Jodi Rell to take the seat, as either would be present a very formidable challenge to John Larson, Rosa DeLauro, Dick Blumenthal, Toby Moffett or whomever. Johnson has been winning in a Democratic district for years...

3. Read the fine print
The webmaster is from California. How effective can that be?

I applaud his sentiments, and feel the same, but I don't think someone across the country can be as effective as someone from Connecticut.

6. I'm saying there should be a primary challenger.
If Lieberman wins the Democratic primary after a real challenge is made, then good luck to him in the general.

7. Lieberman has demonstrated his prowess. And yes he is sometimes
outside the Democratic tent. But not very often. Fiscal conservatives are numerous in the Democratic party. What? Do you want to chance out the Clintons too?

I just get tired of us going after each other. That is what Bush & his ilk taught their freepers. We do not have to follow those adolescent behaviors. Memes get transfered from person to person but you can say no.

That is what Democrats have to do. Dig deep. Be the adults. Be discerning and fight hard when it is really, really important AKA Social Security.

If Lieberman continues on in this vein I am sure someone will challenge him. But if peace breaks out in Israel then I do not know - that could be a really big change. That could mean the end of the Middle East as an "issue" (not to mention the right wing's new found love of democratic government in whatever wacky form it takes).

It just makes me weep. We do not have anything to learn from the freepers. Coercion is for bullies.

8. I won't vote fot Joe in 2006, so it's either a new Dem who is a friend to
Progressives or Green for me.

No way will I ever vote for Lieber-bush again.
