Prosecutors look to double Rowland's sentence!!!!
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 03:52 PM by DODI
Poor Johnny!

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Federal prosecutors on Thursday urged a judge to nearly double former Gov. John G. Rowland's expected prison sentence, saying he has mislead his probation officers as part of a yearslong pattern of deceiving state officials and the public.

The request, filed as part of the government's pre-sentencing recommendation, said Rowland tried to hide a retirement account worth more than $416,000 from the judge. The defense denied the claim. . .

1. We made the Guardian!
By "we," of course I mean our beloved state.

But I wonder why an English newspaper would find this interesting.

2. Yay!
Does anybody know how widespread the corruption is? Could the judge offer him clemency in exchange for fingering a bunch of other felons in office?

I know, I was so disappointed
I did see somewhere that this judge had a reputation for leniency.

6. The judge DOES have a reputation for leniency and I am way
disappointed that he only got a year-but I am so glad they asked to double his setence. Did anyone here Colin read the memo from the US Attorney on TIC? I thought I was going to drive off the road laughing. The attorney must have grown to HATE Rowland, pointing out that his kids were healthy and could work to put themselves through college, and that the only reason his living conditions were not as comfortable as the conditions his family was used to was because he lived in the GOVERNOR'S MANSION, paid for by us, and HIS OWN CRIMES were the cause of his removal! He is such an idiot, but it was nice to hear him get called on it--would have loved to him rot in jail, though.
