Email from Dodd regarding third-party websites
Just in case you're part of any advocacy groups that ask you to email people through their sites... I received the following from Chris Dodd today:

Dear Friend:

Thank you for contacting me. It was a pleasure to hear from
you.

I am currently unable to respond to e-mails that come to me
from third-party websites, many of which send letters without
prompting by the sender. With that in mind, if you would like to
know my views about an issue of concern to you, please use my
website's webform, located at: http://dodd.senate.gov/webmail.

My top priority is to respond in a timely fashion to
everyone who writes from Connecticut; your use of the webform
helps me considerably. I look forward to hearing from you.

Again, thanks for contacting me. I apologize for any
inconvenience.

Sincerely,

CHRISTOPHER J. DODD
United States Senator

2. There are a lot of them starting to do that. I have got the same
thing back from some so far. We need some good letter writers with DU and then we can send those from each of us or something.

4. Dodd is pretty responsive for a Senator
My wife & I have major issues with the INS (now called the BCIS)...

Somebody she works with suggested we write to our Senators & Congressman about this issue.

So, I penned letters to Lieberman, Dodd & John Larson (our Congressman at the time)

Somebody on Larson's staff responded to us within a few days. Somebody on Dodd's staff within 2 weeks. Never got a response from Lieberman. (in fairness to Joe, I did get a letter from him when I told him "no" to private accounts, and also got one regarding the proposed gay marriage amendment)

When we moved from Larson's district to Republican Rob Simmons' district last summer, we wrote to Simmons' office regarding this issue - which was dragging out. It took over a month for somebody from Simmons' office to get back to us...

7. Dodd is the best at replying and his office staff members are polite.
Joe is pretty bad. When I wrote Simmons about Valerie Plame--asking his opinion as an ex CIA guy, I received (about a month and a half a later) a big, thick package of internet research with highlighted sections about Plame (most of which I'd already found and read myself) and NO comment at all on his opinion of what was going on. It was really kind of weird. Usually he responds faster than that--but basically, he doesn't care what I think.
